Neurodynamic Couples Therapy Workshop
New and improved version!
This workshop provides a framework for understanding how the emotional triggers between mates are inevitable and useful, rather than avoidable and destructive. You will learn how to interpret the dramatic interactions of a couple as neurobiologically programmed sources of growth and change and how to guide them through their own natural process of mutual healing.
A highlight of the new workshop is an instructional video of the implementation of Neurodynamic Couples Therapy in live treatment sessions with a couple.

Content includes—
- The neurobiology of couples conflict – why the natural right-brain activation in intimate partners is necessary to heal dysregulated emotions
- The metabolizing of emotions – what this means and how to help couples do it together
- The “perfect storm” in couple relationships – understanding intersubjectively constructed enactments and how to use them effectively in treatment
- “Recycling dramas” vs. “repairing dramas” – strategies for reframing the experience of emotions from here-and-now conflict to the recognition of matching pain from the past
- The critical role of safety in helping couples create “repairing dramas”
A comprehensive bibliography of supporting literature will be provided. Participants who are practicing couples therapists should be prepared to use one or more of their own cases for application of workshop content.
